Castro Taking Over Cuba-communism

In 1959, Castro came to power and promised freedom and democracy to his country and the people in it. He and his followers were gaining ground in a guerrilla war against their dictator, Fulgencio Batista, much of Cuba was rebellious. In 1953 the Cuban Revolution began and finally drove out Batista in January of 1959, which replaced his regime with Castro’s government. But his government later changed to communist lines, which became today’s Communist Party of Cuba in 1965, and that still exists today in Cuba.
